Mortada Mohamed


Mr. Mohamed is the President of the World Affairs Council of Austin. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the Bill Munday School of Business, Marketing, Operations and Analytics Department at St. Edward’s University.

Mr. Mohamed’s professional journey includes serving as the Regional Marketing Director for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa for the State of Texas, Office of the Governor, Economic Development & Tourism Division. During his tenure, he played a key role in shaping and executing international marketing campaigns in collaboration with industry leaders, boosting the visibility of Texas products and producers across his region. His extensive travels to over 35 countries allowed him to drive export initiatives and promote Texas as the nation’s top exporting state.

Beyond his work with the state, Mr. Mohamed has led international economic development projects for ACDI/VOCA, where he worked on impactful programs in developing regions such as Africa, Siberia, and Eastern Europe. These projects focused on strengthening local economies and fostering cross-border business collaboration.

Mr. Mohamed also co-chairs the annual Texas-EU Business Summit in partnership with the University of Texas Center for European Studies, furthering business ties between Texas and Europe. He is an active member of the Texas Advisory Council for the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC), helping shape policy on global trade and foreign relations.

He holds an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University and is a Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP), a designation awarded by the North American Small Business International Trade Educators (NASBITE).
